Position Description: Youth Minister(unordained)

Salary: $70,000 a year

Position Overview:

The Youth Minister is a key member of our church community, responsible for nurturing and guiding the spiritual development of our next generation. This role involves leading, organising, and implementing various programs and activities that engage, educate, and empower young people within the church community. The Youth Minister will work closely with other church leaders and volunteers to create a supportive and inclusive environment where young people can grow in their faith, discover their purpose, and develop meaningful relationships with God and others.

Responsibilities:

1.       Spiritual Leadership:

o   Provide spiritual guidance, mentorship, and counselling to young individuals, fostering their personal relationship with Christ

o   Develop and deliver engaging sermons, Bible studies, and teachings specifically tailored to the needs and interests of youth.

o   Encourage active participation in church services, worship, and prayer, both within the youth group and in the large congregation.

2.       Program Development and Coordination:

o   Design and oversee a comprehensive youth ministry program that addresses the spiritual, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of youth.

o   Organise and lead regular youth gatherings, events, retreats, and trips that promote fellowship, community building, and spiritual growth.

o   Collaborate with volunteers and parents to create a safe and supportive environment conductive to the spiritual development of young individuals.

3.       Volunteer Recruitment and Training:

o   Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to assist in youth ministry activities, ensuring a team of dedicated individuals who share the vision and values of the church.

o   Provide ongoing support, mentorship, and resources to volunteers, empowering them to effectively engage with and serve the youth.

4.       Relationship Building:

o   Foster positive relationships with youth, parents, guardians, and families, promoting open communication and collaboration in the spiritual upbringing of young individuals.

o   Develop connections and partnerships with other churches, organisations, and community resources to enhance the youth ministry program and provide additional support for youth.

5.       Outreach and Evangelism:

o   Develop strategies to reach out to unchurched youth in the community, fostering connections and introducing them to the love and teachings of Christ.

o   Engage in evangelism efforts by organising events, activities, and programs that create opportunities for youth to share their faith and invite others to join the church community.

Qualifications:

·       A passionate follower of Jesus Christ with a deep commitment to personal spiritual growth.

·       A strong understanding of Christian doctrine and the ability to communicate biblical teachings effectively to young individuals.

·       Experience working with youth in a church or ministry setting, demonstrating the ability to connect with and engage young people.

·       Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to plan and coordinate various youth activities and programs.

·       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with youth, parents, volunteers, and the wider church community.

·       A degree in theology, ministry, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience and training will be considered.

·       Adherence to the church’s beliefs, values, and statement of faith.

·       Demonstrate proficiency in playing the piano.

·       Need to be proficient in both the Korean and English language.
